Day 131: ... (No Subject)...

So I started this cool new diet today! My mom and older sister have been on it for a while and it's really been working well for them, so I'm pretty pumped :D By the time I'm done with it, I'm supposed to have lost around 50 pounds :D Woot Woot!!!

On a less exciting note, school is going wonderfully! All my teachers are awesome, as expected of BYUI, and this semester is smaller so I know more people already :D

I have this one class, Basic Musicianship, that is basically theory and such and I'm flying through it like nothing. I could test out of it pretty easily, but I like this class too much :D It's easy, I have a bunch of friends in there already, and the teacher is super cool! For example, today at the end of class, someone said something about Mario and he, my teacher, rushed over to the piano and started playing the theme, the coin sound, the lava music, the water music, more of the coin sound, and the Game Over music too. It was way funny. He has an awesome sense of humor AND he is amazing at the Piano. Plus he has perfect pitch, which is pretty awesome, I must say. He is very educated too. He has a masters in Music Education, a masters in Piano Pedigogy, and he is working on his Doctorate in Piano Pedigogy as well. All from different universities I might add. So yeah, he's pretty cool. All my other teachers are pretty awesome too, just not equally as awesome :D

Anyways! Enough about my teacher, I"m doing awesome in that class. It's easier than trying to find a Casino in Las Vegas. Yeah. It's that easy. We had our first test last week and I got a 100 on it in 5 minutes. Which could have been 2 minutes had there not been a line. And tomorrow is our next test, which I'm pretty sure I'm also going to ace. So far, the only things I've really learned in that class is the names of the half step notes in solfegge and their corresponding hand signs, how to make a major into a natural minor, and I can also now sing hymns in solfegge instead of with the lyrics. Yeah, it's pretty awesome to say the least. For our test tomorrow, we have to sing All Creatures of our God and King, Come come ye saints and Book of Mormon stories, all in solfegge. All of which were also stuck in my head last night while I was trying to get to sleep. I was just lying in bed thinking "Do do re mi, do ti do re mi fa, mi do re, do ti do." Which is Come, Come ye saints in solfegge. Needless to say that it took me quite a while to fall asleep last night, especially since I started doing the hand signs as well. Yeah, I'm a music geek. Get over it.

I watched Finding Nemo yesterday :D I freakin' love that movie so much :D Lines from it have been running through my head all day :D I'm also a movie freak. Once again, get over it. I have loved movies all my life and always will. Anyhoo, I don't believe there is anything else I feel like sharing... Oh well! Adios amigos!

Day 122: First week of the new semester!!! :D

So I was sitting in my Book of Mormon class today when the thought popped into my mind, "Hey! I should post on my blog about my totally awesome first week in Winter semester!" Okay so it wasn't exactly in those words, especially since I don't really think in words let alone sentences. I think more in song, which may sound odd, but hey, it keeps my mind entertained! :D And it keeps me from getting stressed by dwelling on silly trivial things that most other girls would normally occupy their mind with! And you know me! I'm no average girl! That's for sure!

Wow. I don't exactly know why just about every sentence in the previous paragraph ends in an exclamation point. I'm not yelling at you, I promise. So from here on out, I will not use any more exclamation points in this post! (Fail.)

In reference to the title of this particular post, I would like to share with you why I am loving Winter semester already! (Fail.) Even though it's quite often in the negative degree's while I'm walking to class. Anyways! (Fail. I really am going to stop using them now.) So first of all, every single one of my teachers is funny. Whether you may think so or not, I think they are all funny. I'm very much happy about this because I feel that when the teacher has a sense of humor during class, it lightens the mood and causes for a less tense atmosphere in the classroom. Which I consider to be very beneficial to me and probably to quite a few other people on campus as well.

Secondly, I didn't make the Women's choir or the Vocal methods class! (Epic. Fail.) You may be wondering why that is a positive thing. Well here's why: First, I wasn't expecting to get in anyways, although I still did my best. Second, I have been sick a lot recently and it probably isn't the best thing to be singing when you're sick. Third, I really like the songs we are going to be singing in Women's Glee (Mainly Steam Heat). Fourth, when I went to the first day of class for vocal methods, we went over all that would be happening in the semester. Albeit rather quickly and candidly, it just seemed like too much to have on my plate at present. And last but not least, now I get to take group vocal lessons from the same director that does Women's Glee :D Yay! (Fail. But that one doesn't really count cause saying "yay" with a period just sounds wrong. And it reminds me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.)

The third reason I am already loving Winter semester is that it is smaller and you can feel it. Reason being, for one, it's cold and nobody wants to be here when it's -20. And two, there are quite a few more people in more than one of your classes than there would be in any other semester. Therefore, you feel like you know more people. Which is always comforting when family and old friends aren't around. For example, I found out today that a girl I sit by in my American Foundations class is also in my Book of Mormon class just before that. Yay! (Like I said before, Monty Python.) Also, there are about 5 plus girls from our Basic Musicianship class also in our Music Explorations class just after on Tuesday and Thursday. ( Side note: I am very much excited for my Basic Musicianship class, no matter how easy it may be so far.)

The fourth (and also last) reason I am loving this semester is that I have volunteered to be the FHE Mom. (YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That will be my one exception...) Which I am actually very excited about. You see I have all these ideas of activities and spiritual thoughts and such and I feel that being Ma is the easiest way to implement them! (Fail.) So anyways, I'm very excited to be the Ma in our FHE group :D However young I may be compared to everyone else.

Day 116: A New Semester!!! :D

Why Hello there! It sure has been a while! Almost a month since I last posted! Well, I'm back :D And I have lots to tell you :D

First of all, Fall 2010 semester is over, obviously. At first, I thought I had gotten all B's and 1 A, but, as it turns out, I got 2 B's and 3 A's :D Yay!!! :D I'm very happy with myself, if you couldn't already tell :)

With the Fall semester ending, I had to say goodbye to all my wonderful roommates for a while since they are on a different track than me. I didn't think it would be hard to leave, but then the day came, more like the hour before came, and I just started crying as it hit me. It totally sucked. And then after I left, I forgot my phone, so I had to come back to get it. Then on top of that, when we finally got on the road, I started to feel sick to my stomach. It wasn't 20 minutes before I requested a gas station and as soon as we stopped, I got out and puked right there in the parking lot, next to the car, with the door open. What a wonderful way for 5 strangers to see you. Thankfully, I got inside to the bathroom before the rest came up. But I felt bad because I took like 15 minutes in there. It was not my finest hour, that's for sure.

Anyways, I'm sure you wouldn't like to hear about my sickening woes of the beginning of the drive. That was all of them anyways :) The rest of the drive was just fine. That is, until the car broke down about 30 minutes from Salt Lake. But we were rescued, so it's all good :) So I finally got to Salt Lake at about 1 AM-ish. What sucks is that I barely got any sleep the rest of the night. Then the next day was uneventful, except that I saw Tangled for the 3rd time :D Love that movie, by the way. Then on Saturday, I finally got to fly home :D It was so good to be home :D

The next two weeks were spent in Texas, and they went by far too fast for my liking. But they were wonderful, nonetheless. Being there even made me think about looking into going to school at TWU in the future instead of up here in the frozen tundra of Rexburg, Idaho. They have the program I want and it would save me some money since I would be living at home. But we'll see. I think that one of the best parts of being at home for two weeks is that I found out that a friend of mine from High School got baptized this last week. I got to see him get confirmed on the following sunday. It was so amazing to see him turn his life around like that. I am just so proud and impressed by him.

Anyways! So now I am back here in -6 degree Rexburg, enjoying the short time I have with a car and with my sister (Can I just say thank goodness for 4-wheel drive?). I found out last night that I not only have to audition for choir today, I also have to audition to be in my voice lessons class. And I can't just sing a hymn for that one, it has to be an arrangement or something. So, I'm going to sing Come thou fount of every blessing. It's a gorgeous song. And it's the arrangement used in the Reflections of Christ slide show by Mark Mabry, if you feel like listening to it. It's on youtube, just so you know :)

And then, on top of auditioning for two things today, I also have to pick up my textbooks, print off the music for my auditions, and then I have a job interview at 6 tonight. This is gonna be a busy day. So I better go get started! Wish my luck!
